Were we in the lobby of the new clinic before? Because that's probably where we'll want to take them.

"Maybe make sure to include that we won."

Yes, that's my understanding.

To be clear, his eyes remained closed through the entire process until he specifically opens them, retaining the connections but exiting the weird trancelike state. He's also more or less immobile during the process. The whole think probably took a little over three minutes and when he spoke, the people next to him heard him speak normally as well as basically directly into their minds.

"Right." TAAron closed his eyes, feeling again for the Stacic energy deep within him. He touched it more quickly this time, although it still took nearly two minutes. Finally, wisps of light began to rise from his body, and his vision opened up to the world, viewing it with that strange, crystalline cast. He reached out, sensing the many souls nearby. He was unable to think clearly enough to be discriminate in his selection, so he seized a connection to them all at once. He shuddered, suddenly feeling them all, hearing their frightened whispers. Taking a deep breath, he opened his eyes and spoke.

"The battle is over. The light has won, and the Clinic is restored. Come find the gateway, you should see the group of us nearby." He quickly cut off the connection, visibly shaken and overwhelmed. The light faded. "How was that?"

"That should do," Platypus says.

While his eyes were closed, Rue has taken several steps back. “Fine. It got to the point and that’s all we need.”

Why did she step back? Or would you rather not share?

Also, should we skip forward to having the refugees returning to the Clinic?

TAAron was far too shaken to notice that she had moved. "Okay. Good."

She panics when guys use magic, even when she’s expecting it, just stuff with her past and her world.

Yeah, probably.

Rue opened the gateway a little wider and started ushering refugees through it.

TAAron helped where he could, but he was still distracted. He had felt, if only slightly, the soul of each of these people. It was disconcerting and a bit terrifying in a way he found difficult to describe. So many identities and experiences, so little overlap. Each was the center of a unique universe, each so vast and yet so hidden.

What he's experiencing is kind of a very intense version of sonder, if you know what that is.

I don’t, sorry.

“Come on,” Rue said sharply when the last refugee had gone through, walking through the gateway without looking to see if TAAron was following.

Wikipedia calls it "The profound feeling of realizing that everyone, including strangers passing in the street, has a life as complex as one's own, which they are constantly living despite one's personal lack of awareness of it."

He followed, trying his best to get his mind off of the strange experience. "Well, that went pretty well for the most part."

Ooooh ok that makes sense.

Rue lets the gateway snap shut behind Nameless and the stranger, then eyes the milling crowd. “I guess we just let them all find rooms now?
