What? What is it?

{Just… let’s get on with this. I—we need to fix his soul before anything else. Please, Tors.} She tried to smile. “That’s okay. It… that’s fine.”

The problem is with his soul actually. It's like there's something else there. An odd connection.

Haly eagerly latched onto a new solution. {it’s the manipulator! Malum. He manipulated TAAron the first time, and he couldn’t do anything. Malum must be getting stronger.}

For some reason, this made her hopeful, or excited.

It could be. But I don't know what to do about it.

Something for her to notice: the expression TAAron has is one of hatred.

{Neither do I. Actually, I…} She looked up at TAAron and stepped back in shock.

It might not be real. It might not…

‘Mights’ didn’t help. It still twisted her gut to see him… hate her. She’d never seen that before.

A sob involuntarily escaped her throat. “TAAron? You… why are you mad at me?”

A flash of surprise passed over his face. "What? Why would you..." The stiff tone and dark expression returned. "You don't need to know that."

“Something’s wrong,” she said, heart beating faster. “Something has to be wrong. You wouldn’t talk like this.” She swallowed, entirely unsure what to do.

”I can knock him out,” Sykel offered.

”No! Not now.”

TAAron, SNAP OUT OF IT!

The words were accompanied by an earsplitting ringing noise, as though a small explosion had just gone off in the small hallway.

"... say that?" The hateful expression vanished from TAAron's face, replaced by one of concern. "I'm not angry at you, Haly. Is something wrong?"

She stumbled away. “No. Just fine. I’m just going to be… over here.” She leaned against the wall.

"You don't seem okay. Please, tell me what's wrong." He took her hand again, clearly worried.
