Fetu was interrupted by an announcement over the loudspeaker.

"Elevator unit O4 is ready for boarding. All Hawai'iloa colonists and other registered personnel, please proceed to the boarding corridor."

"That's us," she said, standing up. Her four children made their way back to her and Makaula.

"I'll introduce you to the rest of my family later," she told Bennu. "We'd still love to meet your wife. But for now, let's get in the elevator."

Gender / Pronouns: female she/her

Age: 12

Physical characteristics: long straight, brown hair that tends to fall in front of her eyes, fair skin tone, brownish-green eyes, small/short for her age (around 4 feet 7 inches), thin

Personality: shy, tends to keep to herself a lot. doesn't usually start conversations with people, draws and writes a lot, smart (higher than her grade level, which is 6th grade)

Homeworld / Homeland / Ethnicity: Earth/USA/Caucasian

Backstory: they want a fresh start and a new life with their mum (Cyndi- Alpha'scharacter). They're trying to get better at socializing, too

Powers:none (yet. i haven't decided if i want her to have powers yet)

Profession: Cyndi's adopted child

Terym hurried over to her mum, so as to be sure she wouldn't get lost or separated from her. "Mum, we need hurry over to the elevator so we don't get left behind. And have you seen my sketchbook anywhere? I can't find it, and I don't remember if i put it in with my luggage or not."

"Alright then," Bennu said, standing. He was gathering his coat and briefcase when Shia joined entered the waiting room. She was always perfectly on time, never late, never early.

They both headed over to the elevator, and Bennu tried to figure out who Dr. Frialio was.

Echo stumbles after Nable, uncertain. Did he say “new people”? That sounded suspiciously like they were going to have to socialise. Well, it was going to happen eventually.

Shia entered the elevator, but Bennu strayed behind still nervous about it all. He noticed someone having difficulty walking and decided to see if there was something he could do.

As Nable makes his way over to the elevator he thinks about all the new people he can meet and also about how his teacher in space will be Dr. Malamalama one of the best astrophysicists ever! He races to the elevator stopping every so often to let Echo catch up.

Cyndi started as she turned around to see who had addressed her. “Who are—” A look of confusion spread across her face and body language. After staring at the girl for a moment, she began again, “Oh, Teyr- Terym. It’s you. Yes…. Ahem.” Sadness began to creep in. This is your daughter, she thought. You can’t forget your daughter. She suddenly remembered what Terym had asked. “Oh, um, I’m not sure.” She glanced inside her purse for a moment. “Ah, here it is. Well, we’d better head toward the elevator.”

Fetu led her family to the far end of the lobby area, where a series of doorways for entry stood. Each person was checked for identification, then passed through.

The doors led to a long, wide corridor, and though it had no windows, it was pleasantly lit. Guides led the group of several hundred through the large corridor, until it began to split into several smaller corridors and stairways. Labels on the walls said Elevator O4.

Guides helped split the large group into manageable sections, and lead each smaller group down the smaller hallways and stairwells until they each came to an airlock-like doorway.

Fetu and her family stepped through the door and into the elevator.

This elevator, elevator O4, was a passenger elevator on the outermost part of the Pacific Beanstalk. Most of the elevator was made of durable glass, as was this part of the Beanstalk itself, giving the colonists of Seaport spread out below them. The huge elevator was made of several tiers filled with acceleration chairs for the early parts of the ascent, and tables and lounge areas for when the trip was smoother.

Aides took luggage and other items and placed them in special compartments while other guides led them to their assigned seats and showed them how to strap in. Fetu's family was led to a set of acceleration chairs on the second highest tier. Light from the sun and the twinkling blue ocean beyond filtered through the huge front window of the elevator, giving the area a bright atmosphere. As Fetu and her family secured themselves in their seats, she could feel her own excitement mixing with theirs. They'd each ridden the Beanstalks multiple times, but...there was something invigorating about the experience.

"We'll be off in a few minutes," she told her children. "Hold on tight."

Ladcral stared at the expanse below him. The sights made him dizzy from the thought of it all, and the presence of several different intoxicants wasn't helping. He compensated by adding more.

Frialio walks into the elevator extremely pale. Hands shaking like crazy, eyes wild, but against that nature a smile. They seem in pain, but relaxed knowing they are repeating something that has gone before. The routine grinds against a fear of something very very wrong. "Remember Calisto" "I-I'll be fine" they force out. As they strap into their seat (in the emptiness part) they start to return to normal, "I'm on the frontier as always, right those 200 years have served me well".

Terym thanked her mother and took the sketchbook. I really hope nobody saw began walking with her mother towards the elevator. before she stepped on, she glanced over at her mother. Terym slipped her hand into Cyndi's and gave it a light squeeze. "Are you sure this is gonna work out, Mum?" A wave of fear washed over her as she began to list all the possible ways of this going wrong in her head. What if the elevator stopped working in the middle of the journey? What if Mum forgets me again? What would I do? Did I cause her to forget? No. That's irrational thinking. Remember your grounding. Terym took a deep breath and looked up at her mother. "I think I'm ready," she told Cyndi as they both stepped on the elevator.

"It'll all work out, honey. We're going to make it work out." Then Cyndi added under her breath, "Forgive me for what I've done to this child, oh please let us be able to live happily…." I rarely forget her now. But-- in the waiting area I would have left her and nlt remembered till it was too late! The thought filled her with fear. Cyndi gripped Terym's shoulder tightly. "I love you sweetie. Just trust me. Please."

Echo runs over, desperate to get out of the crowds. The interior of the elevator is like nothing they have ever seen before, but they take it all in with an awestruck light in their eyes.

”Should we go and find whoever’s in charge? I want to ask about this elevator. The mechanics must be so fascinating…” They had abandoned all signs of introversion and looked like they could chatter on about mechanics for hours if Nable didn’t stop them.
