Rex stood up and moved to Daniel's side. "Is there anywhere you haven't looked?" Rex said quietly.

“Everywhere? He could be anywhere. He’s not in the house though.”

"Shh..." Rex soothed the woman, giving her a gentle hug, "I'm sure he's around here somewhere. We'll find him."

She sank into the embrace, her tears finally spilling out. “He’s just a little boy.”

“We will. We can start looking for him. We can go through town, asking if people have seen him. He’ll be ok.”

“I’ll go get ready, we can start looking in a couple of minutes.”

Rex nodded to him and gently released his mother. "We'll find him." Rex looked into her eyes.

"You're welcome." She squeezed her hand before following after Daniel. She touched his arm, opening their connection. I don't like this...

We need to find him as soon as possible.  He pulled on a pair of shoes. “Are you ready?”

Daniel looked over. Jimmy would have gone to an ice cream truck if he could. He ran over to the truck.

this gives off "somehow worse sequel to a horrid 2011 creepypasta" vibes. (ex. Sonic.exe: Round 2 and Prevention of evolution: Change is for the better)

so, as a story, this is interesting. as a creepypasta, this feels very cliché.
