Sharpie stares at it. This is his chance. The reason he joined in the first place. He shoved his doubts for before away, now it was time for business. Negotiation.

Inside the ship, there’s a horde of nurses that immediately begin tending to bruises and offering him food.

Sharpie pushes them away, he doesn't really care about all that.

"Are . . . are the game makers here?"

Zira comes around the corner. She’s changed out of her bloodstained dress into a beautiful, deep red gown that seems far too formal for something this simple. Her purple hair shines faintly as she grins. “We have our Victor.”

He stares at her. His heart pounded in his ears.

"You- your a gamemaker?" He almost didn't believe it.

Callie smiled from the chair in the very corner of the room.

"You did it," She sighed and stood up, "You were capable of being a truly terrible person. Congratulations."

She dropped a large stack of papers on his lap.
The pages and pages worth that she'd been working on.
Some smudged with ink, some torn.

"I hope you're proud of yourself," She said on her way out.

"Because no one else is," She muttered under her breath.

She turned back, scowled, and walked away.

She licked her fangs. “Head gamemaker, actually.”

He starts looking through the papers. "What are these?"

Sharpie felt his heartbeat slow, training coming into effect. This was the moment. It was time.

He set the papers aside, still not sure what those were for.

They hadn't taken away his scythe.

He . . . hadn't expected to feel so calm.

So, without another thought, he swung the blade at Zira.

Of course, it hadn't been so easy. Sharpie hadn't expected it to be.

He was really here more to make a point, then anything else.

"We," he said quietly, "Will never forget what has been done."

His voiced had an unnatural cast, these were rehearsed words. Drilled into his soul for years.

Siyl—Zi—Zira looked back at him. “I know,” she said coolly. “I don’t expect you to. I do, however, expect you to be better. To live longer. To plan. Don’t be a fool, dear child. Now, there is a banquet awaiting us. Shall we?”

He laughed. It wasn't bitter, he actually sounded amused.

"You think this is it? This is our final strike? I need not to live, nor plan, that has already been done. No, today I will not finish the work, We are not so foolish as to expect so."

"I am but the herald of a greater cause, the warning bell, the match cast into the firewood."

"This is but the beginning, Zira, Game maker, the first crack that will cause your empire to crumble."

Zira only shrugged. “All things must end someday. Whatever little Revolution you think you’ve started…Mm. They’re in for quite the surprise.” She stepped closer, and he could smell the blood on her breath. “You can’t kill the dead, silly tribute.”

He grinned. "Your dead? That's great! It'll save my house the trouble of killing the first time, at least."

“Of course I do,” Zira said. “The naive don’t become gamemakers. There is always someone looking to kill you.” The doors to the ship closed, and it rose into the sky, out of the arena.

"Then we've reached agreement." He settled back in his chair, setting the scythe aside. He began flipping through the stack of papers Callie gave him.

"What are these supposed to be again?"

As he flips through the pages, he sees one sentence written over and over and over again. There are different spacings and ways of typing it which vary between the pages. There are so. many. pages. They all read:

The games destroyed my daughter; I destroyed the games.

At the bottom of each page, in very small print, you see:

And soon, you'll destroy yourself. All of you.

"Lovely," he muttered.
