Welcome to the forums. Please don't double post. If you may not be familiar with teh tools this type of forum has available for editing your post (and quotes, etc.), maybe this can help:

Spoiler

At the bottom left of a post you will see a "+" icon, a "Quote" link, and (your posts only) and Edit and Options tools. On the bottom right you will see an up arrow.

  • The Up Arrow is how you thank people or "like" a post
  • The "Quote" link is exactly that, when you click it the quote will be added to the reply at the bottom of the thread wherever the cursor is
    • So, if you have already started to reply before you decide to quote you can then add the quote before or after your text depending on the cursor location when you click "Quote"
  • The + icon is multi-quote. As you read a thread, if you want to quote multiple items you click that for each post
    • As you click +, you should see a toaster pop-up on the bottom right of the browser window showing how many quotes you will have
    • They are added in the order you click the + icon, not in the original post order, so you can set the order of quotes for your reply
    • When you are ready to reply, click on the toaster pop-up and it will take you directly to the reply section and add the quotes automatically
  • Finally, you can also highlight a small section of a post and, when hovering over the highlit portion, click the "Quote" button that pops up.
  • Also note that you can move quotes after they have been added to your reply.
    • For example, you add a quote and realize there are no empty lines below it for you to type - so you can hit "enter" before the quote to make an empty line then when you hover over a quote you will see a 4-way arrow at the top-left that you can use to drag the quote up (or down)  and move the quote to before the empty line. . .
  • Use the Edit link to make changes to a completed post or add information to your post if it is the most recent (to avoid double posting)
    • Quote buttons will still send a quote to "Reply" if you have a post open for edit, but it is easy to cut/paste the quote to the Edit box
    • Editing the first post in a thread allows the thread-creator to edit the thread title.
    • Editing allows you to add a reason for the edit (Spelling and grammar (SPAG), formatting, clarification, new information, etc.), but it is not required.
  • Next to Edit you will also find an "options" dropbox, you can use this to hide your post if you want to remove it after posting
  • At the top of a post you will find "Report Post"
    • Use this if you do accidentally double-post (sometimes it's the browser or a slow link that causes a double post) - just leave a message that it was an accidental double post and the Mods can fix it. If it was the first post of a new thread that doubled, they usually can merge the threads if they both have answers, so all of the content is retained.

Hope that helps.

I like this idea but I think he would make a better Wayne, I feel like wax needs to be older

Not sure who most of those people are, so I can;t really comment on the casting choices.

Personaly, I would hope that nearly everybody (except maybe Hoid) be an unknown - unless it's animated and you are casting for voice acting.

My dream is that it would be an anime series. I think that would be the best way to do justice to the world and magic system

I think the type of Anime would be important. Akira/Ninja Scroll style - maybe; DBZ/YGO style not so much

I agree that the style is important. I was thinking something like Attack on Titian. But to be fair that the only anime I have watch fully so I may be a little bias. Also sorry about double posting only been on like 3 days

On it.

I'm in a shadow and bone mindset at the moment, but I think that Kit Young could play Kelsier, Ben Barnes could play Ati, the person who played Matthias could be Ham, Daisy Head could be Shan Elariel, and Jack Wolfe could be Elend. Basically I just want the crew to be played by the crows.

Please do not double post:

Spoiler

Double posting;

  • Refers to posting twice in a row if you are the last poster in a thread. Unless new material and a significant amount of time has passed (eg. updating a theory post when new sample chapters are released), please edit your last post.
    • Glitches will sometimes cause posts to directly duplicate. You may remove duplicate posts of yours by pressing the Hide button (3 dot menu), or, if it is a duplicate topic, press Moderation Options at the top of the page, and hit Hide. If you see this on another user's post, please let us know if this is the case by reporting it.

Here are some tips and tricks of which you may not yet be aware:

Spoiler
  • At the bottom left of a post you will see a "+" icon, a "Quote" link.
  • At the bottom right you will see an heart icon (and possibly different reactions in the future).
  • At the top right you will see a hamburger menu (three dots) which shows: Report, Share, and (your posts only) Edit and Hide tools.

Likes/Reactions:

Spoiler
  • The Heart Icon (Like) is how you thank people or "like" a post
    • Likes, Mentions and Quotes should all send an alert to the appropriate person - even when added to an old post through the Edit feature.

Report Tool:

Spoiler
  • Use  the Report tool to report any post (your own or others) to a forum Mod
    • Use this if you do accidentally double-post (sometimes it's the browser or a slow link that causes a double post) - just leave a message that it was an accidental double post and the Mods can fix it. If it was the first post of a new thread that doubled, they usually can merge the threads if they both have answers, so all of the content is retained.
    • For reporting Spam, only report a single post by the user to let the Mods and Admins know - they get messages for each "report" so reporting each Spam post is annoying and unnecessary. If all posts by a "new user" (bot) are all spam - then all of those posts will be deleted when that account is deleted.

Hide Tool:

Spoiler
  • Use the Hide tool to hide your post if you want to remove it after posting (useful for accidental double-posts)
    • Hiding the first post in a Thread will hide the threan as long as ther have been no replies (Needs Testing)

Mentions:

Spoiler
  • You can "Mention" a person by typing "@" and slowly typing their user name (spelling matters). As you spell their name, the interface will show a pop-up with matches - when you match appears, click it to add the Mention
    • Likes, Mentions and Quotes should all send an alert to the appropriate person - even when added to an old post through the Edit feature.

Quote Methods:

Spoiler
  • The "Quote" link is exactly that, when you click it the quote will be added to the reply at the bottom of the thread wherever the cursor is (adding a carraige return if necessary)
    • So, if you have already started to reply before you decide to quote you can then add the quote before or after your text depending on the cursor location when you click "Quote"
  • The + icon is multi-quote. As you read a thread, if you want to quote multiple items you can click that for each post you want to quote
    • As you click +, you should see a toaster pop-up on the bottom right of the browser window showing how many quotes you will have
    • They are added in the order you click the + icon, not in the original post order, so you can set the order of quotes for your reply
    • When you are ready to reply, click on the toaster pop-up and it will take you directly to the reply section and add the quotes automatically with one blank line between each for you to add your comment(s)
  • Finally, you can also highlight a small section of a post and, when hovering over the highlit portion, click the "Quote Selection" button that pops up.
    • This will also be added to the cursor location, rather than the bottom of the reply.
  • Also note that you can move quotes after they have been added to your reply.
    • For example, you add a quote and realize there are no empty lines below it for you to type - so you can hit "enter" before the quote to make an empty line then when you hover over a quote you will see a 4-way arrow at the top-left that you can use to drag the quote up (or down)  and move the quote to before the empty line. . .
    • This is also how you can add quotes to an Edit of your own post. You quote using any of the methods above and the quote will go to the reply section. You then hover over the four-way arrow and use CTRL+C to cut the quote, which you can then paste into your edit window.
  • Likes, Mentions and Quotes should all send an alert to the appropriate person - even when added to an old post through the Edit feature.

Editing posts:

Spoiler
  • Use the Edit link to make changes to a completed post or add information to your post if it is the most recent (to avoid double posting)
    • Quote buttons will still send a quote to "Reply" if you have a post open for edit, but it is easy to cut/paste the quote to the Edit box
    • Editing the first post in a thread allows the thread-creator to edit the thread title (important for changing accidental spoilers)
    • Editing allows you to add a reason for the edit (Spelling and grammar (SPAG), formatting, clarification, new information, etc.), but it is not required.
  • Likes, Mentions and Quotes should all send an alert to the appropriate person - even when added to an old post through the Edit feature.

Other:

Spoiler
  • Quotes and Spoilers are very similar, but here are the differences:
    • Spoiler tags are default "closed" and are not attributed - they may be opened by clicking the spoiler box title
    • Quotes are default "open" (but may be closed by clicking the Quote Title and are denoted by the basic arrow icon on the left side of the quote title), If the quote was added with one of the methods explained above, it will be attributed - if it was added with the quote icon in the Reply/Edit tools, it will not be attributed.
    • Attributed Quotes will have a curved arrow icon on the right side of the quote title to jump directly to the post from which the quote was taken.

Hope that helps.

Maybe im riding off the "Literally me" trend but Ryan Gosling could play a perfect Kelsier not only has he got the rugged attractive style but hes also shown to be a really good serious actor in movies like Drive and less so in Barbie, combining those two would probably end up with an amazing Kel

(I will admit i havent read this whole thread so maybe someone already mentioned it but eh)
I think Maisie Williams is meant to play Vin, her role as Arya is very similar to Vin as a character and she played that role amazingly

I could see Willem Dafoe as Cett imo

Oh no now im thinking about this too much.

Elend: Andrew Garfield

Straff: Robert Downey JR (his role in Openhiemer shows he can be an amazing bastard of a character ykwim)

Lord Ruler: Timothee Chalomet (NOW HOLD ON AND LISTEN, i dont remember how youn the LR was described but ik he was young and handsome, and i meannnnnn

but yea i might return later with more who knows

I think he would do much better as Wax. Straff always knows what he's doing; he has everything planned and perfected. He never gets hand to hand. I do admit, however, that having a wife like Steris could cramp his style.

Lord Ruler: Timothee Chalomet

The lord ruler is an oppressive, evil dictator. He has hangings in the town square and shoves spikes though his servant's eyes so he can rip them out and kill them at any time. Timothee Chalamet would be a poor choice for this role. He would do better as Elend.

Have you seen Dune?

Timothee Chalamet would be insanely perfect, especially if they age him up in the right ways where he's still as lithe as he is in everything else. If they do him once he's like a year or two older, it would be exactly perfect.

He has range and could do it nicely. You can't hold an actor to the fact that he hasn't exactly played that sort of character yet (Though I will maintain that Paul is at least that bad.) I think it could be amazing.

Now, to actually add something to the conversation, imagine Walker Schobell. Age him up to, say, twenty years old with darker hair that has straightened a little over time. He has a little sharper features and that same smile.

Now imagine him with a book in his hands. Or, perhaps, a giant bloodied sword after he just killed a bunch of Kolloss and his old buddy. Elend Venture played by our boy Walker Schobell.

I think he could be great if they waited long enough, which seems like there's going to be at least enough time for that.

This is sort of an old thread, but I'm going to chime in with a couple ideas in hopes anyone still cares. I don't remember ALL the characters from the first trilogy (EDIT: I got most of the big parts I think), but I'll try to hit the ones I actually have an idea for...

For the early books,

Karl Urban as Kelsier,

Milly Alcock as Vin,

Idris Elba as Sazed,

Gary Oldman (my favorite actor) as The Lord Ruler,

Jaeden Martell as Spook,

Sam Rockwell as the bad guy mistborn who's name I forget (Elend's brother?),

Tom Hardy as Elend,

DJ Qualls as Vin's brother,

Paul Giamatti as Ten Soon/Renoux,

Elizabeth Dibicki as Tindwyl,

Danny Devito as Clubs,

Benicio Del Toro as Breeze,

Benedict Cumberbatch as Marsh,

Terry Crews as Ham,

Chris Pratt as Dockson,

Jeff Goldblum as Staff Venture.

For the Wax and Wayne series, I have fewer names. My casting is a bit old, but I'm expecting makeup and acting to close the gap:

Idris Elba returns as Harmony,

Paul Giamatti returns as TenSoon,

Timothy Olyphant as Wax,

Walter Goggins as Wayne,

Anna Kendrick as Marasi,

Keira Knightley as Steris,

Anthony Hopkins as Wax's uncle,

Kelly Reilly as his sister.

Bash away. I'm sure I'll be mocked for a few of those choices. 🙂
