Hyper129 He/Him
So in Oathbringer, it says that when Adolin attempts to bring his dead Shardplate into Shadesmar, he isn't able to but Maya still comes. How come (since we've seen Radiant Shardplate is made from spren) when they come in with Gallant and the shardplate doesn't come through, how come there isn't some form of deadeye minor spren that appears, say, inside Gallant's bags?

How come (since we've seen Radiant Shardplate is made from spren) when they come in with Gallant and the shardplate doesn't come through, how come there isn't some form of deadeye minor spren that appears, say, inside Gallant's bags? Because the Shardplate spren are not deadeyes. Maya (and other DeadBlades) only appear in Shadesmar because Rosharans learned to add Bonding Gems so that they could be dismissed and summoned. When a Blade is Dismissed, the Deadeye is already in Shadesmar - so Maya did not "come with" Adolin, she was already there. Shardplate is only in the Physical Realm. The spren making the plate have been pulled fully through to form the Plate (which is why you see Kaladin always has it, even when not visible - also mentioned in Syl's Interlude when she touches the Plate and senses contentment from the Spren forming the Plate) RoW: Spoiler Interlude 1: Spoiler She rolled off the counter and zipped over to examine Cord’s Shardplate stacked neatly in the corner. The young Horneater woman was never without it. She was the first of her people in … well, a very, very long time to have a Shard. It was pretty. Maybe Syl should have hated it, as she did Shardblades, but she didn’t. It was kind of a corpse—well, lots of corpses—but not as offensive. The difference, she supposed, was attitude. She could sense contentment, not pain, from the Plate. Ch 114: Spoiler Kaladin stepped up beside Rlain and rested a hand on his shoulder. Rlain couldn’t feel the Plate, though it was apparently always there—invisible, but ready when needed. Like a Shardblade, but made up of many spren Hope that helps Edited Friday at 01:09 AM by Treamayne SPAG
