Draginon he/him
My 7 Doctor Who DVD’s came in! I think these were done like a DVD on Demand printing since the disc art goes all the way to the edge of the dvd (makes it look cheap to me but I don’t really care since I want to see all the classic episodes) and the underside is purple instead of the standard clear/white/mirror. Since this is a second print run the copyright now says 2019 instead of the years the sets originally released and the dvd logo has been replaced with a very different typeface/font. 27 to go unless they announce more animated episodes!
Silverblade5 he/him
Was closing with two new people and one of the most annoying people ever. Despite this, we still got out at a decent time.
Hood he/him
I will be going home in late October. It is awesome because: 1. It is the time for Diwali, and the whole place is in a festive mood. My best memories are from this time. 2. The climate will be amazing. It is early winter and the wind is chilly. Perfect for late night and/or early morning walks. Plus, the winter sun, is the best sun ever. There's light and the heat is just alright. I'm much hyped about the climate because my hometown is a warm place. In summers the temperature is around 45°C (or 113°F) 3. And the most important reason - I will be meeting my friends (and the girl who I like) after more than 2 years. We last met during our graduation ceremony. We have planned some outing in the city, and a visit to our college to relive old memories.
+Ed Venture
This was almost posted in the bad news thread, but my luck turned around and so I’m here! Today, arriving at school I checked my grades like normal. As and Bs, like normal. A single late assignment, like normal. What wasn’t normal was a failing grade in French. I....may have overreacted. I really don’t like getting bad grades and my parents put lots of pressure on me. So I’m going through all my classes feeling anxious. Then I go to French, last class of the day, and she reveals that she put in all of our grades wrong. So that’s awesome. Even better, she gave us all an extra credit point on the assignment! Oh, and I did amazingly on a really difficult Chemistry test!

+Ark1002
So, it's 10:43. I spent the night at a football game, and had almost nothing to do with football. I asked a girl out this morning, and spent half the game avoiding her. The other half I just kinda gave up and had fun. She avoided me the entire time. But I've done it, gotten it out there, and made friends with half the grade. YOLO
+Slowswift he/him
Some extended family and I got to spend the morning up Millcreek Canyon in Salt Lake! We were listening to the morning session of General Conference and generally hanging out which was super fun! (Awesome afternoon session too, with super interesting announcements!) Goodness, this is always one of my favorite times of the year. The best part, though, was in the evening: our stake was invited to sing at Temple Square opposite the Conference Center during the women's session! It was a really amazing experience. One of the best days of the year for sure! Also, as a thanks for coming up to sing, everyone in the group got a ticket to the Sunday afternoon session tomorrow! +Hoiditthroughthegrapevine he/him
I went mushroom hunting on a clear and beautiful day with my family and my dogs, and we got some amazing mushrooms! We got 6 oz of Golden Chantrells, 3.5 oz of Pigs Ears (the pink ones), 1.2 oz of Cat's Tongues (the pale jelly looking ones) and 22 oz of Lobster Mushrooms. We're going to try the lobster mushrooms in a thai red curry tonight! So delicious! Update: The lobster mushrooms were so delicious that they didn't even make it into the curry. I sauteed them with butter and garlic, and and I was going to add them to the curry, but my daughters gobbled them up in less than 2 minutes! The Forgetful Archivist he/him
A few weeks ago I posted on the bad news thread, now I'm here because life is funny that way. For the last 2 and a half years I have been working on a math problem and I think I finally solved it. I won't go into details because I am going to try to get paid for it but suffice to say if it works I will have my name on a Wikipedia page and a fair chunk of prize money and maybe be in a Numberphile video, who knows. (I encoded an explanation and hid it bellow in code so my partner can't double-cross me, that's what the weird white space is). I also got to interview at and subsequently tour a bronze foundry which was awesome!! If hired I would be earning almost twice what I currently make, and would be primarily blasting things with sand as well as pouring molten bronze and aiding in other parts of the casting processes. I am incredibly pumped at the prospect of working there, its basically my dream job. I also managed to get in touch with several old friends and its been a pleasure talking to them again. Life is good.25 39 43 36 36 20 35 32 4a 44 20 32 38 40 20 78 20 72 3d 32 4a 20 28 3a 3d 44 40 3f 20 35 3a 44 34 40 47 36 43 36 35 20 32 20 3f 36 48 20 3e 36 45 39 40 35 20 40 37 20 37 3a 3f 35 3a 3f Wander89 he/him
I have finally started the Wheel of Time series. I know it's not necessarily Good News but I've been meaning to read this but been put off due to sheer length. Currently on The Great Hunt and this one isn't holding me as much as I wanted it but I think it's just fatigue. HOWEVER, I'm finally being immersed into this and feeling comfortable enough to do so. This time last year I would only read standalone or comic books (and the Cosmere). The good news part is that books have been my getaway now and reading these have now made me more confident in real life. I've been feeling more like myself and this has been well translated to relationships and work.
Ammanas
Even though I’m not a expert on anime films my favorite one is called Your Name. I just found out that the director has another film out in Japan and is coming to US theaters in January! They even have a subtitled trailer up: https://www.tor.com/2019/10/11/makoto-shinkais-weathering-with-you-gets-an-english-subbed-trailer/

A Silent Voice is a close one to compare it to! I'm excited for Weathering With You!

I won't go into details because I am going to try to get paid for it but suffice to say if it works I will have my name on a Wikipedia page and a fair chunk of prize money and maybe be in a Numberphile video, who knows. That’s awesome! Congratulations, TFA! Oooh, fun. I hope you get the job dude!

Zephrun’s Imperium they/he
I just made it into an honor choir! I've made it in every year since fifth grade, but I was really nervous about this year because when I originally did the recording, I kept messing up. I was eventually able to do one where I didn't mess up, but at that point I was more worried about getting it done even decently so I didn't have to worry about it anymore. But I made it in! I'm five for five, baby!

Ammanas
@Wander89I saw the movie A Silent Voice. It’s a movie that I can appreciate that it was well done, and moving, but didn’t quite work for me. The following is just my feelings and I realize that many people feel differently about such things. If a film or book is going to deal with heavy and dark topics (like suicide and bullying) it needs to have something to balance it out. Something like comic relief or another lighter (or adventurous) plot line. Here are two examples of what I mean. In Kurasawa’s the Seven Samurai there is a lot of death and sadness but there is also that drunk oafish Samurai that offers some crude humor, but also a sense of adventure about defending yourself and your loved ones from harm. In the Korean blockbuster hit Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds there is a major element of the story which is very sad but the protagonist is also progressing through the Buddhist afterlife. Anyways I appreciate the recommendation though. I will admit it’s a powerful film.
