After hearing the phone ring Yrank flinched. "Shoe my boy? I thought you were back at camp! Don't tell me you followed through that blasted portal and I simply missed it."

Shoe giggled creepily for the third time.

Before anyone else followed him through the portal, a wave of... giant hamsters? Yes, giant hamsters rushed towards them. If one looked carefully, they could see small, normal-hamster-sized metal spikes poking out of them. The hamsters blocked off the portal, and surrounded the group, growling. It probably would've been cute if they were small, but on hamsters the size of medium-large dogs, it was terrifying.

"Uh," said Nogard. "Hamsters."

With the stampede of Hemaurgically spiked hamsters running around, Yrank tried to run away. As he was hobbling with his crutches, the hamsters stampeded (is that a word?) over the ground next to him, breaking one of his crutches.

"A little help here if you wouldn't mind!" Yrank shouted to whoever could hear.

Nogard did his best to support the old man, but that made him half as quick. Fortunately, the hamsters seemed to have lost whatever directive they had been following and were now running around trampling everything.

"Quickly!" gasped Nogard. "Portal us back!"

The hamsters were running around the group, slowly encircling. If one looked at it from above, it would resemble a large, brown whirlpool. Their seemingly random direction was contracting, constricting the group and keeping them away from the OA's portal.

The Once Author opened a new portal beneath them, dropping them into a gigantic white, empty, infinite expanse.

Aero walked up to the hamsters, clutching his hemalurgic guinea pig close to his chest. "Hmmm I don't know enough about hamsters but they like seeds and worms, does anyone have huge mealworms or something on them?"
