aneonfoxtribute
Okay then. So seemingly Moiraine and Lanfear are dead. I do believe Moiraine is dead for real, she has a lot of death flags and Lan's bond changed, which I think is reason enough to believe it. Lanfear I am not so sure on. Moiraine's final note makes me think that she might actually be dead, but I will not be surprised if she shows up out of nowhere again anyway.

aneonfoxtribute
Ladies and gentlemen, today I finish. What happened last was Nynaeve put an a'dam on Moghedian and Rand was chasing Rahvin. Now we go.

aneonfoxtribute
Woah. Rand's Balefire literally reversed the deaths of Aviendha, Mat, and Asmodean. Damn
aneonfoxtribute
And that ends The Fires of Heaven. That was a good book, it ended good, but DAMN if I didn't have a hard time getting through it for whatever reason. I am definitely taking a break from WoT for a while, gonna hit the backlog and actually finish some of these books I started last year.

I'd recommend picking this back up whenever you finish whatever you are currently reading. In my opinion Lord Of Chaos (Book 6) is the strongest in the entire series. It is definitely the "Things are now different" book of the series. As far as character development it is a larger step for Rand than accepting that he is in fact the Dragon Reborn was. It also ends with one of my favorite scenes in any book I've ever read (although not actually my favorite scene in a Wheel of Time book, that doesn't come along until The Gathering Storm). Well I just finished Trials of Apollo. My current plan is to just get through the books I've already started before going back to Wheel of Time, so I'm planning on finishing Golden Compass, Hobbit, and Name of the Wind first because I've been on them for over a year. I'm not gonna finish Blade Itself because I might restart that book in audiobook after listening to all these Shardcasts. That will take longer than it sounds because I'll also be playing Nier remake, Resident Evil 8, Hajimari no Kiseki, and The Great Ace Attorney in between now and that time most likely, so it might be a hot minute
Ammanas
2 hours ago, aneonfoxtribute said: Name of the Wind No need to rush and read this one. We will probably never get the third book and the story, as it stands, is incomplete. I say this not to be negative and a complainer but in all seriousness. Judging by interviews it is not a priority to the author and is mired in endlessly rewriting scenes when he feels like working on it. It’s been 9 years or so since the last book came out and the editor said a few months ago she hasn’t seen a word of it. I’ll agree with Sovereign and say Lord of Chaos is one of the stronger ones in my opinion. I think it would be hard to get back into WoT after a long break. The audiobook of The Blade Itself is great. Pacey is amazing. Abercrombie isn’t for everyone and it seems like you didn’t enjoy the book so we might just have different tastes in books. I rushed through the print copy when I first read it.
aneonfoxtribute
Well, I started Name of the Wind last year and I am honestly loving it and need to finish it. It's honestly really easy for me to read and get sucked into so I'll get through really fast if I just dedicate some time to reading it. I blew threw Mistborn: TFE in exactly a week and it was also easy to read and sucked me in, and Name of the Wind isn't that much longer. Golden Compass and Hobbit are short books and I'm halfway through both of them so they're gonna be even shorter. I honestly don't expect the reading to take very long, so long as I just sit down to read instead of scrolling through my Youtube suggested and watching random crap or whatever. I'm not worried about Kingkiller not being close to over, I can wait. I am a fan of HunterxHunter, after all. I can most certainly wait. aneonfoxtribute
Oh I actually forgot to respond to the second half of your comment. It might be hard to get back into Wot after a long break but I do intend to look up plot summaries of the books before doing so, probably Daniel Greene's. I think I need it anyway. As for Blade Itself, it's not that I didn't enjoy it, I was interested, I just found it harder to sit down and actually read. I don't know if that's because I was trying to read it on Kindle, since I usually read physically, or if it's just the writing style, but I was having a harder time wanting to read even though I was enjoying it.
Iarwainiel I she/her
You probably already know about the online WoT Encyclopedia, but that's what I used when I was skipping books. I liked that character and place names are linked which made it easy to remind myself who's who and where's where [is that even an expression? guess it is now, LOL].

I am aware of it but I think it does have spoilers? idr what it was but I remember that when I looked at the summary for a chapter, it had a link towards something I didn't actually know (I still don't think I know what it is yet)

Some of the information points aren't in sequence (i.e., skip back and forth between books) - - it is/was just a wiki, so volunteers added whatever & whenever they could. I was using it before Brandon's books came out, so spoilers were OK for me. Have you tried the re-read that Leigh Butler did for Tor.com? https://www.tor.com/features/series/wot-reread/ If you just read the chapter summaries and skip any "commentary," and of course don't read the Comments, it might suit your needs. Maybe start by reading a couple of the chapter summaries from books you've read that you remember what happened, to gauge whether it will work for you? Hope this helps

aneonfoxtribute
So uh, I kind of don't remember basically anything of Morgase's POVs. I remember that she fled and is planning to build up an army to take back Andor, but other than Gill and Lini I don't remember any of the people with her or anything that happened after she fled, lol
aneonfoxtribute
I also feel like I should remember Mesaana, but I don't. I can tell from context that she's a Forsaken but I swear I do not recognize the name at all, whereas while I couldn't tell you what they are I guarantee I could tell you when the other Forsaken are named Hmmm. Two of the Forsaken were put into new bodies, Osan'gar and Aran'gar. Am I supposed to know which ones, or is that left unknown for now? Two of the dead Forsaken for sure, based on Shaidar's dialogue

Two of the dead Forsaken for sure, based on Shaidar's dialogue I know there are enough details given throughout the series to determine which ones they are, but I couldn't say for sure if you have that information yet. For Morgase's POVs, there is Morgase, Lini, Gill, Gill's bouncer Lamgwin (i may have that name slightly off, but pretty sure its close) and his girlfriend/whatever she is, and Tallanvor, the guard from the Castle who escorted Rand n/or Mat to see the queen when they dropped onto the grounds.
