TheOneKEA
Has anyone come up with a theory for how the seon was removed from Sel and brought to Roshar? I was quite surprised when the seon was found inside the box and since it’s been a long time since I last read Elantris I didn’t realize what could have been in Mraize’s box.
AirsickHighlander
I read Elantris a few months ago, and I recall that Hrathen ALSO keeps a metal box that contains a seon. He removes the seon before using it, so I don't think it's exactly the same construction, but I'd be willing to guess that the two might be related.
seriodor
I'm surprised that they're common enough for us to know there are 3 on Roshar. I thought it was really hard to travel to Sel in the cognitive realm. It seems like smuggling Seons offworld for use as communication devices would be a risky endeavor.
redshadow310 he/him
Another possible box [Spoilers Mistborn Era 2] Spoiler You also see a very similar box on Scadrial in The Bands of Mourning. Kelesina Shores speaks with Mr. Suit through one before her servant shoots her to frame Wax. Of course it's possible it is some kind of radio communication.

I hadn't considered that it was anything but Wax's inexperience with technology, but he does call it a "boxy device" or a "box," and comments that he wants to send it to Elendel for inspection - although i don't think we ever see what comes of this. It adds a slight metallic tinge to the speaker's voice though, which may indicate that it is just a radio, but Wax also makes an odd comment about the Set's secret technology, much of which does come from foreign sources (although still scadrian). Another BoM artifact that might be of interest to us are the allomantic grenades. Scadrian technology, to be sure, but metal boxes that store allomentic energy and intent? They may relate somehow to the Seon box as well.
