Hemalurgic Aluminum retcon?

Spoilers up to Alloy of Law!

So I was researching Hemalurgic aluminum for my Mistborn game, and found a discrepancy in the definitions of its use.

According to the Coppermind, and The Hemalurgic Table found in the leather bound edition of the Hero of Ages, an Aluminum spike does not steal any power, but rather removes all powers.

But in my pocket edition of the Hero of Ages, the Metal Quick Reference Chart describes Aluminum's effect as "Steals Allomantic Enhancement Powers".

The leather bound edition is obviously newer, so is this a retcon from Brandon to fit with Era 2 and the Cosmere in general?

This is diffinately a retcon. My hardback copy also says it steals Enhancement Powers. However this might be justified because the Ars Arcanum charts are in universe and the original version could have just been Khriss guessing. Personally I'm not happy with the change because it breaks the pattern the rest of Hemalurgy followed.

Yeah but also, it's aluminum, which has always been the thing that Investiture is removed with, so it makes sense. You stab yourself with a Hemalurgic spike of aluminum, of course you're gonna lose literally everything.

Seeing that many of the metals had "Unknown" effects in the original tHoA, and "Steals Allomantic Enhancement Powers" was moved to Electrum in the Hemalurgic Table, shouldn't the pattern be fine? Or was there something specific you thought about?

Physical metals steal Physical powers, Mental metals steal Mental Powers, but with this change no Enhancement metals steal Enhancement traits and now Temporal metals steal both Enhancement and Temporal traits. That's the pattern I was talking about.

I understand that, but my issue is now no Enhancement metals steal Enhancement or Spiritual metal powers

Both the book and RPG tables were wrong, in fact. The correct version is from the Hemalurgic table.
Although it is important to remember, Brandon built Mistborn before the entire Cosmere was set up, so you will actually encounter some errors (like Brass and Electrum in Feruchemy) or Atium that could be Push or Pull.

Or Marsh using his Invested spikes as metalminds, which has its own issues.

Or Sazed saying that Seekers often become Savants unknowingly which contradicts Brandon’s later thoughts regarding that risk.
