  1. (Agh I can't believe I haven't posted this yet. I finished it a week ago)

    Spoiler

It's supposed to go with the Eneless piece.

Also, this is my attempt at a self portrait that I did today:

    Spoiler

It's a bit more realistic than my normal style. For some reason I look older than 15 in this? I'm not sure what it is about it. My only big problem with this is that the neck is too long. But overall, I like it.

Man, all y'all complaining about growing. I wish I'd grow. But I haven't for quite a while and I think I'm done. Life sucks. I'm so short and ugly.

Don't think like that. You are a beautiful person. You'd make a weird looking tree, but you're a beautiful person.

sidenote, we should rename this thread "the other random stuff"

  3. Did you know? Your birth order affects your personality!

If you're the first child, then you're more likely to be a natural leader, a high achiever, bossy and a follower of the rules.

If you're the middle child, then you're more likely to be flexible, easy going, secretive, and generous.

If you're the youngest child, then you're more likely to be a risk taker, outgoing, competitive, and bored easily.

If you're an only child, then you're more likely to be close to your parents, dependable, demanding, and sensitive

If you were orphaned at birth and raised by your aunt and/or uncle, then you're more likely to be whiny, have a good relationship with a mysterious old man, gifted with supernatural powers, and the chosen one.

I've quietly fallen off the earth lately (I blame college), but I've been following this convo via email notifications and --- oh boy weight loss

Hey, you guys, did you know weight and health are almost completely unrelated?

    Huge rant under the cut!

Did you know that doctors tend to not even test things like blood sugar or pressure in thinner patients because they don't think it's necessary?

You can have diabetes and heart disease and be conventionally "healthy" skinny. You can be nearly anywhere above that and be much healthier than someone smaller!

Most of our medical suggestions on weight are unfounded in good science. Doctors will suggest weight loss to a healthy patient for no reason.

Our social stigmas against weight ARE NOT ABOUT HEALTH!! They're about LOOKS. We've programmed ourselves to find "thin" people attractive.

It's stupid and cruel and unnecessary.

Weight isn't about eating. You are what you eat, sure, and excess energy is stored and all that, but it's a lot more complex than that. You can't just not eat and expect to be healthy!

People all have a point of weight homeostasis where their bodies will naturally gravitate towards. Doing rigorous, unexpected dieting puts your body in "starvation mode" -- it starts to burn its stored fat (and muscle reserves). Your poor, stressed body will rejoice when you stop starving yourself -- and save up until it can feel safe again. If your weight does not fluctuate and is remaining pretty stable (my stable point is like 160lbs), that might mean that's just how your body likes to be. And that isn't bad!!!! That isn't bad!!!

Humans are beautiful and incredible and following absolutely stupid social garbage about fat isn't helping you or any of us.

I'm not saying eating right isn't important. It's really important! It shouldn't be about weight --- it should be about health. Eating right makes you feel good, makes your skin glow and your head clear.

It isn't math, though. It's not calories in -> calories out. We process FOOD, not calories. Aside from the fact that calories are notoriously inaccurate and hard to count, a "calorie" of almonds processes very differently from a "calorie" of, say, health cereal. Basically -- don't listen to em. They're garbage.

"Healthy food" costs 40% more on average than "normal food" --- except that healthy food isn't actually all that healthy. If something has health claims on a box, it's probably not healthy. If it has unpronounceable ingredients, probably not healthy. If your great great grandma wouldn't realize it's edible, probably not healthy. Basically, your best bet is to avoid processed food (even if they try to convince you they're healthy, they aren't).

Also, the main thing that hurts you is sugar. Not fat, not anything else -- sugar. Fat is good and important for you to consume! Cholesterol eaten doesn't actually effect your cholesterol at all and is a necessary and healthful food. Drink whole milk -- removing the fat makes it so your body can't break down the nutrients in it. Eat eggs!! They're super good for you!!!

This isn't to say that you absolutely cannot ever eat anything processed or sugary. Just be careful, don't go to extremes. Also, homemade food is so much better for you than store food --- so by extension homemade doughnuts are more fun and more tasty and more healthy than a bag of lil debbie's.

I'll stop talking about food now, lol. I get really excited. I will 100% yell about it some more if y'all want but I don't want to be annoying!

tldr: Being thin or fat is no indicator of health. Our social stigma about fat is completely cosmetic, not medical. Bodies are different shapes and that's great!!! Love yours, it's beautiful. Take care of yourself. Eat good, whole food, but have fun too.

As someone who has a skinny body shape, but just sits around all day and probably doesn't eat enough vegetables, I can attest to this.

Skinny and healthy are not synonymous.

  5. The topic's moved past this by now, but I figured y'all might be interested in this:

I changed the big guy's proportions some, gave them all clothes, inked it, and colored in the skin. I'll color the rest tomorrow; my neck and wrist are both sore. (Just ignore the hands)

That's funny, I thought there was much more male body type diversity because girls are all Thin And Pretty while men can be human.

Chris Evans? Chris Hemsworth? Dwayne Johnson?

Yeah, it is sort of the reverse of what you'd think, isn't it? I think the reason might have something to do with girls being easier to draw.

I finished sketching out their shapes. Could I get some critiques on this? You don't have be an astounding artist, you just need to know what people look like.

Muscles are so difficult . . . Also, these are meant as specific characters, not a representation of the 4 most common body types.

  7. Agh. Reference photos for male body types are so hard to find! References for female body types are all over the place, because All Women are Beautiful™ but all the references for guys look the same.

I get the feeling this might say something about our society, but all I want is a reference for a guy who has a broad build without being fat.

Okay, think about Kaladin. Specifically, his grief over losing Tien and so many of his friends.

    Now listen to this song.

Speaking of Stormlight, in tomodatchi life (the Nintendo version of sims) my brother made miis of Shallan and Kaladin.

    They got married. #ShaladinConfirmed

I'm not really around anymore, I just popped in because… reasons, but thank you!

I didn't really notice you were gone.  As in, I could have sworn you were still around. I thought I saw a post by you just the other day . . .

    *looks up post* *notices date*

    . . . Never mind.

Anyway, happy birthday! One day closer to the day when your soul leaves your body and this shell that you call your whole being deteriorates into dust. Enjoy your time while it lasts!

On a completely unrelated side note, my sense of humor has been getting slightly darker lately.

And the God of the Old Testament. And the creator of the universe...And the judge, and so on and so forth. Really, the only thing he isn't is God the Father.

An interesting semantic fact is that Mormonism would be polytheistic because it practices worship of God the Father AND God the Son. (I do not include God the Holy Ghost since he is not worshipped, even if he is considered a third "God")

    I guess you're not technically wrong . . . ?

To clarify the LDS perception of the Trinity, which we call the Godhead, this is copied and pasted directly from the doctrinal mastery handbook:

    Quote

    1. The Godhead

There are three separate personages in the Godhead: God, the Eternal Father; His Son, Jesus Christ; and the Holy Ghost. The Father and the Son have tangible, glorified bodies of flesh and bone, and the Holy Ghost is a personage of spirit (see D&C 130:22–23). They are one in purpose and are perfectly united in bringing to pass Heavenly Father’s plan of salvation.

God the Father is the Supreme Being whom we worship. He is the Father of our spirits (see Hebrews 12:9). He is perfect, has all power, and knows all things. He is also just, merciful, and kind. God loves each of His children perfectly, and all are alike unto Him (see 2 Nephi 26:33). His work and glory is to bring about the immortality and eternal life of man.

    • Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Firstborn of the Father in the spirit and is the Only Begotten of the Father in the flesh. Under the Father’s direction, Jesus Christ created the heavens and the earth. He is Jehovah of the Old Testament and the Messiah of the New Testament.

Jesus Christ does the will of the Father in all things. He lived a sinless life and atoned for the sins of all mankind (see 3 Nephi 11:10–11). His life is the perfect example of how we are to live (see 3 Nephi 12:48). He was the first of Heavenly Father’s children to be resurrected. In our day, as in ancient times, He stands at the head of His Church. He will come again in power and glory and will reign on the earth during the Millennium (see D&C 29:10–11). He will judge all mankind.

Because Jesus Christ is our Savior and our Mediator with the Father, all prayers, blessings, and priesthood ordinances should be done in His name (see 3 Nephi 18:15, 20–21).

    • The Holy Ghost

The Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead. He is a personage of spirit and does not have a body of flesh and bone. He is often referred to as the Spirit, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God, the Spirit of the Lord, and the Comforter.

The Holy Ghost bears witness of the Father and the Son, reveals the truth of all things, and sanctifies those who repent and are baptized. Through the power of the Holy Ghost, we can receive spiritual gifts, which are blessings or abilities given by the Lord for our own benefit and to help us serve and bless others.

My interest. You have piqued it. I'm always interested in seeing representation in media.

(On which note, I'm going to say Rukako is an awesome character)

That's a common cover :P But some of them can be...dull.

If you feel like checking it out, the name of the anime is Kaichou Wa Maid Sama. Also I think I used the wrong term to describe Aoi. I'm pretty sure the correct one is gender fluid? They act like a guy sometimes, though they slightly prefer being seen as a girl. They aren't a super main character and doesn't appear until episode 4.

The real question is, is he a yaoi lead or not.

Anime songs can be weird, too.

Eh heh no. I'm not into that sort of thing. But there is a side character who's a trans girl, and a different guy who for some reason, ends up cross dressing all the time, though not of his own free will.

  13. So look at this, it's a screenshot from the credits of an anime I'm watching right now:

    Spoiler

    image.png

Based on this, you'd think it's about guys who fight each other for some reason or another, right? Wrong. This is the male love interest in a high school drama.

I will never understand anime credits. ಠ_ಠ
