  1. No she doesn't, I never said she did. She said she wanted to see what was on the other side of the Aryth Ocean. I'm making a joke.
  2. No I mean later, when the Seanchan actually showed up when she was Amyrlin.
  3. I wonder if we're gonna see the Foretelling of Rand's birth Yep. There's the Foretelling of Rand's birth Baby Siuan wishing to go to Shara and Seanchan. Completely unprepared for the truth. Becoming Amyrlin was the best thing that ever happened to her if THAT was her intention Siuan getting reports of the Seanchan: "Well it's a damn good thing I didn't get the chance to go exploring"
  4. Do you mean Moiraine's letter to Thom? He reads that in KoD. He gets a letter from Verin in Gathering Storm that is read at the end of Towers of Midnight, maybe you're confusing the two
  5. I start New Spring either tomorrow or Thursday, and I probably finish it Thursday in any case. Very excited. Then I actually finish Skyward Flight.
  6. Perrin isn't consumed by the search for Faile in Path. She gets kidnapped at the end of that book, and Perrin only finds out at the start of the next book.
  7. I feel like people very much overestimate how long the Faile kidnapped arc takes. Like yes, it lasts for four books. But most of that isn't with Perrin, and each book progresses it in a significant way. PoD starts it, WH has Perrin learn about it and shows how Faile is existing in the camp. CoT progresses it, showing how Perrin is sort of going insane because she's gone, while also giving him the need to go to the Seanchan for help, showing Faile's plans to try and escape, and showing that Aram and Masema are getting along. And then Knife of Dreams ends the plotline. I didn't find that plot that bad. Now a bad plotline was Elayne trying to get the Lion Throne. It lasted the same length of time, but it progressed far less. The best part of it is seeing Elayne's relationships with characters like Aviendha and Birgitte, and the, like, two scenes where we see them trying to acclimate the damane to a life of freedom. The meat of the plot, the political storyline, is just not good. Dyelin is the only political entity that matters. Neither the antagonists nor the other random lords that show up matter at all, and I knew they wouldn't matter reading it the first time.
  8. Faile starts out awful but she gets much better (especially with the context given by that one dude on Reddit, he did a very good writeup on her). As for Perrin, I still like him. I can very much vibe with ignoring literally everything for the sake of the person you love most.
  9. Oh wait, that was my mistake. I thought the mirror thing was said when Elder Beato was saying her weaknesses, but I looked it up and it was said later on. Sorry about that.
  10. Featherine is the closest we have to a self-insert, yeah. Everyone commonly says she is, and she is certainly used as a mouthpiece by Ryukishi in order to talk about his philosophies, but there's enough about her that's different from Ryukishi that she's not a full self-insert. Lemme ask a question. Why is Younger Beato weak to mirrors? I'm curious what your take on that is. Erika's an idiot, case closed. Witches don't exist.
  11. Yeah that's entirely fair, since it's not in an enclosed area. But I like seeing the effect of the characters in the actual real world, it's less urgent and small but it manages to be just as horrifying because it's on such a massive scale. The ending was a doozy, it's the kind of ending that I think a lot of people would hate but I personally loved.
  12. I need to reread that. Have you read the Hero trilogy that happens after Gone?
  13. By the way, my plan for reading New Spring is to read it over my Thanksgiving break when I go home. So I'll likely start it November 23. And then probably finish it in like two days because I will likely not be doing much of anything else.
  14. Thanks for telling me about this in the Kiseki thread. I read your original post but I didn't see the edit. I don't remember Androl at all before the Sanderson books. I know a lot of people don't like Androl because people say "he doesn't fit", but I disagree. I think he fits perfectly well. People call him a "Sanderson playing with the magic system", even Sanderson himself, but I don't think that fits either. He doesn't really do a lot of playing with it. He's just a dude who is really good with Traveling and not much else. He's like Nynaeve, where he's just super Talented at this thing and he does things with it extensively. I'd even say that he's less experimental than Nynaeve. Nynaeve actually DOES play with the magic system, she plays with how Healing works (trying to cure stilling and the madness, for instance). Androl just does the only thing he really can to get out of trouble, which is making portals in fun ways. And it's not even like he's the only one doing it, he isn't even making the most radical changes, that's Bryne using the portal to look down on a battlefield. The only other thing that would be considered "playing with the magic system" is the double bond with Pevara, which from a writing perspective is playing with the magic system a bit, but it's just one event that happens by accident. I wouldn't really call it playing with the magic system very much. As a character Androl is pretty good. He's not really standout but the things people dislike about him are overblown. I also remember seeing people say that he was an unnecessary addition, but I disagree. We needed a perspective from one of the random Asha'man chilling at the Tower. It wouldn't have worked if they just used Logain, which was the only other option. It would have been far different because Logain is more powerful, the storyline needed a smaller figure to view all the events of the Black Tower from, and someone who is familiar with the workings of the Asha'man (which is why we can't just have Pevara's viewpoint of it, because she doesn't know these people). tl;dr, Androl pretty good, any dislike for him genuinely makes zero sense to me
  15. Calvard does have Reverie spoilers, and it has no more Crossbell spoilers than Cold Steel. I think Kuro doesn't have any.spoilers for Reverie? Not that I can recall, just.some vague references. Kuro 2 definitely spoils Reverie though. Kuro 1 also has a plot.point that doesn't technically spoil Reverie but it makes more sense wirh Reverie context
  16. Also I might end up rereading the earlier books, just to reexperience it. Also have a tier list.
  17. I got the "The World of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time" and "Origins of Wheel of Time". As for the show, I hear S2 is a lot better than 1 and I'll take that.
  18. I still have New Spring to read. I need to finish Sunlit. I got those Jordan biographies to read. I got the show to watch. My personality is gonna be Wheel of Time for a while still probably.
  19. Alviarin is still alive??? I thought she died in ToM. ANDROL DISGUISED HIMSELF AS RAND LMAO Please tell me that we get to see Hawkwing talk to Tuon Thom is so cool. He's always been cool Oh hey there's Fain, I was wondering where he was F for Alanna SLAYER IS DEAD MAT GOT STABBED BY MASHADAR NO NOT MY BOY MORDETH IS DEAD! I knew Mat was gonna live because of the sequel idea, but damn that almost got me THE SEALS ARE BROKEN Oh my god Lanfear has been Compulsing Perrin this whole time. Rand was right all along The evil is now well and truly defeated. And now, for the final prose Jordan wrote. Awww, she's so romantic Oh I didn't realize the meaning of Rhuarc dying meaning that the future Aviendha saw was averted I can't believe the payoff for "Alivia will help you die" is "she'll somehow know that you're in Moridin's body and give you clothes and things" lmao The End Of the Last Book of The Wheel of Time Peak fiction. What else can be said
  20. DNGKJSADHJFKADBSVYHJUFSDKJFGJYDSHFKJSDHUIFHSDUIFGYSDUIH THE GREATEST THE BEST OH MY GOD SDHFIUASHFIUGSDYFISD AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA PEAK FICTION! EGWENE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! THAT IS THE MOST UPSETTING DEATH AAAAAAAA
  23. Oh damn Aravine betrayed Faile. She was a Darkfriend all along. I half wonder if what she was doing was a ploy, though, to try and get the Horn to Mat without arousing suspicion until she was too far away to do anything about Oh hi Leane, where have you been IT'S TIME FOR BELA'S MOMENT TO SHINE! And now Logain goes off to fight Demandred. This man is a menace. Graendal is still the MVP of this war on the Shadow's side, I think, but Demandred is putting up a DAMN good fight for that title. EGWENE VS TAIM LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Random view of Aram's parents. We haven't seen them in ages. Damn OH GOD DAMMIT THERE'S HANLON, WHY IS HE HERE NOW! BELA NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
