  1. Alright. Now that we’re done with the pleasantries, it’s time for the important questions. If you were to have Nightblood take up any of the shards, instantaneously, and at any point in time, which do you think would lead to the most drastic change in plot? (make sure to spoiler tag your response tho)
  2. Random Twinborn Combo Day 8: A-Copper and F-Gold (hiding Allomancy and storing health) Well, I’ll make this one fairly brief, as to me, it’s a fairly straightforward one. Allomantic Copper: pretty good for other folks, who have more useful and powerful abilities, but a hair useless on its own. Technically could hide the signals given off by Feruchemantic abilities, but most people don’t really know how to check for that, as it appears differently than Allomancy does to a Seeker. Feruchemantic Gold, however, is quite nice. Healing? Everyone likes it. Nobody loves to die, and not dying certainly has its benefits. Together, there isn’t much past having a coppercloud that won’t die when a coinshot bursts into the room. It could certainly be a nice little surprise, if an assailant expects you to be useless in a fight, and it turns out you are certainly not. And I suppose you could also be storing health while sitting around burning copper, so that’s nice. Overall, not really a frontline role, but could be a nice combo. Resonance: Well, ya got healing and cloaking. Maybe slightly lessened pain, as you’re kind of “hiding” the signals of your injuries? It’s a bit of a stretch, but that’s all I got. Name: I actually have no clue. Any name suggestions are welcome! Rating: not the most powerful combo ever, but could lead to a fairly cozy lifestyle. 6/10
  3. Sadly, I have not. Really need to get around to it.
  4. Well, it’s been….ages. But I decided to make another poem! Here’s Orpheus’ Journey:
  5. Clotho, 438 Scrap Street, The Mistwarrens Well, this will certainly be interesting. Clotho knocked on the battered door of 438 Scrap Street. The door looked as if it had been taken off it’s hinges more than a few times, and had a metal hatch used to see who was at the door without opening it. Clotho, not gently, but not full force, rapped on the door. And waited. A moment later, a scraggly boy, maybe early twenties, opened the hatch. ”Whadya want?” He said, both cautiously and annoyed. ”I’ve heard a Nicro lives here, and I’d like to make business with him” Clotho responded, equally irritated. “Well, he’s out at the moment. Whadya want him for?” Clotho, growing more frustrated, said ”Just let me talk to Delben!” Begrudgingly, the boy opened the door, and let her in. @Stormlightsong @I think I am here.
  6. Alllright folks! It’s another double day! Because I rolled a Zinc Compounder. Random Twinborn Combo Day 6.5: A-Zinc and F-Zinc Compounding mental speed for days! But don’t forget that this is also a rioter! Honestly, I think this would be really powerful, but really annoying to have. At this point, you’re limited by the speed of your own body, which can be quite irritating. Rioting is fun though, so being able to do that would certainly be nice. Resonance: Well, you would naturally be great at reading emotions, but I feel like that just comes with caring about reading emotions while being able to think real fast. Name: Thinker. Just, Thinker. Rating: theoretically real powerful but practically really annoying. For that fun little quirk, it gets an 8/10. Random Twinborn Combo Day 7: A-Nicrosil and F-Electrum (bursts target’s allomancy and storing determination) So this one is interesting. Allomantic Nicrosil is really powerful. So powerful, in fact, that more Nicrobursts are enlisted into the Elendel military, because of the firepower they can give. Imagine a hyper steelpush, or a brutal show of strength in one blast. Theoretically, I think Nicros could burst feruchemy too, so long as the metal is ingested like Allomancy. Really good stuff. F-Electrum isn’t as great. I suppose, if you were to be a soldier, determination would be quite nice. But last that and doing homework, it has quite niche uses. Resonance: This is yet another one I have no clue of. They are completely different things, and I have no clue how they could interact. But maybe you do! Name: Something militarily related, I would think. Basically a Nicro but better suited for military work. And even with that, I have no clue what the Earth-equivalent position would be that a Nicroburst fills in Scadrian military. Rating: Cool combo! 7/10
  7. The whole point of this thread is to inspire thoughts on potentially cool Twinborn combos! Go for it! And I still have 288 other combinations to mess around with.
  8. Interesting! I’m not sure if that allows at-range leeching, but it would do…something probably
  9. Alright, I saw this post and felt like I was contractually obligated to respond in some way. Koloss are funky fellas, and if there was an excuse to sacrifice four Koloss to get an even bigger, beefier Koloss, they totally would. Could they? Yeah, it kind of looks like it. I don’t think you could really farm spikes off of it (I.e. spike a Koloss, then let it build up muscles again to spike it again), but a four-into-one Koloss made of four-into-one Koloss would be probably possible. My only question then is if they would still be human after all that. They would no longer be human beefed by humans, they would be a human beefed by a creature beefed by humans. My other wondering is how far you could take that? What type of Matryoshka-doll abomination could you create before they either collapse from their own horrific existence or Ruin himself strikes it down?
  10. Random Twinborn Combo Day 5.5: Gold Compounder Since this is one we are really familiar with, I won’t be dedicating a full day to it, but since I rolled it, I’ll at least mention it. Allomantic gold, believe it or not, can be quite useful. It isn’t godlike, but if you are skilled enough, you could learn facts you didn’t know before, or have reflexes you wouldn’t have before. Now, given how weird it is, most wouldn’t bother. And gold compounders, given that they can just heal their way to victory, probably won’t need that either. The real reason gold compounders are so good is their ability to abuse F-gold, which is stored healing. They can survive pretty much anything, and it is seriously nice. Personally, though, I find it a tad boring. Resonance: with healing and alternate selves, I would say that a sense of inner reflection would come with the pairing. We saw this with Miles, and I would argue that it is decent grounds for a resonance. Name: I’m tempted to go with BLOODmaker, but something like an Immortal would be a tad more fitting. Or just, you know, a gold compounder. Rating: abilities are really strong, so a 9/10 for that. Personally though, for coolness level, 4/10, as regeneration/immortality can only be on “screen” for so long before it gets a tad boring. Random Twinborn Combo Day 6: A-Chromium and F-Steel (Wiping metal reserves and storing speed) well, since this series is supposed to be about finding new, unorthodox combinations, you get another today. Admittedly, this one ain’t that special, but it’ll do. So Allomantic Chromium can be quite nice, as a misting without metal isn’t much of a misting. The only downside to it is that being close enough to touch them is often close enough to either kill them or be killed yourself. So it’s a tad more of a utility tool than an invaluable ability. Feruchemantic Steel, on the other hand, is really nice. Being able to move even twice as quickly, not to mention 25 times as fast, is useful for so many things. It goes without saying, but F-steel is one of the best Feruchemantic powers out there. Now, putting them together, and you get someone that can wipe metal reserves in an eyeblink. However, they could just kill those people in that eyeblink, so unless you are either a pacifist or just want to have a chat with them, it’s not that useful. However, it would be a fun character to have act as a “good guy” and choose to solve problems in ways other than unloading a mag into the bad guys’ faces. Resonance: Hmm. Well, I am sort of stumped on this one. Mayybe you could get away with being able to wipe at range, as it speeds up the process, but that seems to be a bit of a stretch. Name: Well, Windwiper would be funny, but something like Disarmer would be a bit better. Rating: basically a Steelrunner with a bit more utility: 6/10
  11. Random Twinborn Combo Day 5: A-Iron and F-Brass pulls nearby metals and stores warmth. So Allomantic Iron is quite nice. It can be situationally better than steel, and can certainly be as deadly. Lurchers also have the advantage of practically neutralizing a coinshot, which can be quite nice. Where coinshots thrive in large areas, lurchers seem to thrive in smaller ones. Now, we haven’t seen much in the way of F-Brass. Though theoretically, it could be quite powerful. Being able to survive sweltering temperatures is certainly nice, and giving someone burns from touching them is also quite the trick. Putting the two together, you have two possible options. One way you could use the two is just…in daily life. Being able to grab a remote from across the room and be able to wear whatever you want whenever are both really nice. If I could be a twinborn in daily life, this would certainly be up there (though in reality, you know I’m picking F-tin). The other option is a more combat focused perspective. Get a metal rod or a sword, heat it with your touch, and wield a flaming sword into battle. Would this require roughly 400 degree (Fahrenheit, I’m sorry) or so body temp, but given that you could survive that as a brass ferring, it could be quite the deadly combination. Resonance: Well, I honestly don’t know. These are quite different, and I can’t see a physical or mental improvement from wielding burning coins into battle, other than developing masochistic tendencies, and losing the reflex of pulling your hand away from a stove. Name: I am so very tempted to just call them an Oven. If you want a better name, I would recommend making one. Rating: honestly? For fun value and couch potato potential, I say it’s an 8/10. Yes, there are deadlier combos, but nothing tops killing your opponents with a makeshift branding iron.
  12. “I have absolutely no idea. Hopefully it won’t get me killed, and I sincerely hope it gets us closer to getting some semblance of an idea on where to go next.” And of course Clotho had extra vials. She made sure to keep multiple in her at all times. The vials she drank were much more dense than most, as she needed much more. Gold burned quickly, so she needed to take a new vial every hour or so. The costs has wracked up, but she had managed to get a better deal in bulk. Turns out being able to jump across dimensions allowed for gathering an abundance of metals, especially when some worlds didn’t find value in it anymore. “And as to why I act weird, I am a gold savant. So I’m constantly three people at once. It has its advantages, but it also has its…disadvantages.” @Stormlightsong
  13. Now here’s the weird thing. What constitutes that? I mean, if we’re just going with “aging”, aging can easily be slowed over time. Someone in their 70s can look insanely good for their age, and all of that is done through physical work and time and effort. If we’re saying that storing would be altering things from where they currently are, and extrapolating from there, that still wouldn’t necessarily lead to aging into a feeble crone. And if we are figuring that muscle density would stay the same (i.e. if you are currently insanely jacked, your 70 year old self would be the beefiest grandpa you ever did see), then what would that mean for when you tap youth? Do we get one beefy baby? I wouldn’t think so. Youth seems to be reverting to what you were in the past, though maybe not an exact point in time (like reverting to your post-pie eating 5 year birthday), but more of when you were five…in general? But there’s problems with that too, as drastic changes CAN happen when you are the same age. I dunno. This is getting all timey whimey. So does that mean you do get jacked grandpa looks? I feel like there has to be some sort of physical change (not running as well as if your body was 15, for example). But what determines that?
  14. Alright, I wanted to post this to the Mistborn forum, but I feel that this is going to extend farther than the confines of that series, so here we are. F-Atium. Stores age. When tapping, you have the appearance of your younger self. When storing, you get the appearance of your older self. Now, here’s the basis of the question I have. What constitutes your older self? People can change in the span of a few months, or even a few days. Anything can happen, and the world is unpredictable. Even more unpredictable when you have people launching coins at you and flying through the skies. When you extend that to the span of 20 years, thousands of options arise. Now, to preface, this is working off of the idea that F-Atium only affects your physical body, much in the way of F-gold. Your mind and memories are completely unaffected. At least, I’m pretty sure. Now, what are the limits of your future self? None, really. Can you age yourself forward to gain really big muscles? Can you gain frown lines or laugh lines? Can you get tattoos? Realistically speaking, any of those are very possible in the span of even 10 years. Can Atium actually do that? That’s what I’m not sure about. I would assume, and this is quite the assumption, that F-atium is utilizing fortune to do what it does. Taking a peek into the future and bring it to the present. The future has a lot of different offshoots, but some are more likely than others. This is the basis for a lot of Shardic fortune, as seen in Stormlight. Now, I understand what can determine the most likely outcome on a community level, but what determines the outcome on an individual level? Now, there’s certainly a lot of good that can happen in the future, but a lot of bad can happen as well. You can break bones, you can gain chronic illnesses, and you can even lose limbs. Now, depending on how F-Atium works, you could even theoretically age yourself forward into a paint in time where you are bleeding from a stab wound. How is that determined? What if you age into a point where you are dead due to a car accident? There is a million different physical things that can happen to you in the span of your lifetime, and the limits are nearly non-existent. But there has to be some, right? F-Atium is seen as a party trick by feruchemists, but what if it is secretly one of the most powerful feruchemantic abilities out there?
  15. Well, fair enough. She had similar desires, as her abilities were her own. Her mansion was quite barren, and could certainly fit another guest. Would this be a comfortable arrangement? Likely not. But she could afford it. “These terms are more than reasonable. Do you have any places to be? We are heading to 438 Scrap Street, or somewhere around there. It isn’t far, but there will be time to fill you in on the job.” This was not the worst of arrangements, and having a local is certainly going to be useful. He didn’t seem keen on backstabbing her, but she doesn’t know what is an act or not with this guy.
  16. Maybe, but generally twinborn resonances are much smaller than other resonances in the Cosmere. It’s certainly possible though!
  17. That’s actually fantastic! You’re completely right!
  18. Random Twinborn Combo Day 4: A-Copper and F-Duralumin (Hiding Allomantic signals and storing connection) Alright. So Allomantic copper prevents detection of Allomantic signals within a certain area (about room sized). It also prevents the burner from being affected by emotional Allomancy, which is certainly a plus. Quite nice to have someone that can do it, but kind of dull if you’re the one that has it. Now F-Duralumin is more interesting. Tapping it, with the right intent, can do any number of things. Become friends with people you never met, speak languages you never spoke, and maybe do a whole bunch of other things. Are there any relationships between the two? Ehhhh maybe. Perhaps you could manipulate connection to have the coppercloud bind to someone else, but I somewhat doubt it. Without that, are these two still a good combination? Probably. F-Duralumin can be really useful, and copper is better than nothing. Resonance: Maybe increased emotional fortitude? A bit of a stretch, but maybe. Name: actually, this is the first one that I’m at a loss on. I would appreciate some suggestions! Rating: better than your average ferring, but a worse combination than your average twinborn. 5/10.
  19. ….So are y’all still doing the whole offering thing?
  20. Actually, I really dig this theory! It certainly makes sense to me! Ruin by their nature resists growing into something more, and so a lack of strong resonances totally fits.
  21. Darn! You’re right! Well, guess it’s electrum then!
  22. “Well, I suppose he could be useful. Feynah, eh? Well, welcome to the job, I suppose. Do you need a down-payment like Mr. Assassin over here?” Clotho was not afraid to use her money, but it was not an infinite resource. She didn’t make much in the way of money, after all. ”Well, for now, we have places to be. We’re looking for a Nicroburst. I’ll fill you in on some of the details as we head where he likely resides. And concerns you have? You’re not being hired for anything particularly dangerous, if that is a concern.” Clitho, realizing that hiring someone in the middle of a street is probably not the smartest thing to do, added “Unless you have places to be.” @Stormlightsong
  23. Alright, who just gave me an ungodly amount of rep within a 30 minute timeframe?

  24. Random Twinborn Day 3: A-Cadmium and F-Electrum (slowness bubbles and determination) Alright. A-cadmium is quite an interesting Allomantic ability, as it is seen as much less useful than A-Bendalloy. Cadmium creates large time bubbles that slow down time for those inside, which can be theoretically useful, but often ends up being a hindrance. We’ve seen in the books that it can be used to give time for backup to arrive, as well as being used to great effect when Ettmetal is added into the equation. I suppose it could be quite nice in daily life, if you have to wait for ages. But given that generally us humans have the problem of too much to do with too little time, maybe not. F-Electrum stores determination. It’s not necessarily as useful as something like F-steel, but it could still be good. Perseverance through a boring task, or through just a really focus intensive task can be quite handy. It seems a tad more helpful for an academic than a fighter, but it could come in handy. Storing it can be kind of rough though, as not feeling up to doing anything is rough even before it is being magically imposed on you. I’m honestly not sure if the upside of extra determination is worth the downside of a lack of determination. But maybe it could work out. Combine these two together, and what do you get? Someone that is really good at waiting, pretty much. Is there other uses? Yeah, but many of them are quite situational. Maybe there’s something that im missing, but as far is twinborn combos go, this one ain’t great. Resonance: This one, I don’t really know. Maybe heightened patience? Perhaps there’s something that would make storing determination not that bad. Name: Stoic. A pretty solid one, I’d I say so myself. Rating: not that great—4/10 What are you folks’ thoughts? Is there something big that I missed?
