for a long time
like since you were about six years old
and you kinda liked using it
and you thought it was a perfectly fine word if used in lighthearted context
and then you find out it's a swear?

See, I never thought of it as a swear

I’ve used the word fondle without realizing it was sexual

I was talking with a lady from our old ward once and she told me that, in an effort to stop swearing, she substituted the problem word for a cool-sounding one from another language. Problem was, that "cool-sounding word" was the exact equivalent to the swear she was trying to avoid.
