Just-A-Stick

She swallowed painfully. Where did he go? She tried to speak, but her voice was raspy and thick.

Auryn reached up, touching her throat. She winced as her eyes watered from the pain. Auryn maneuvered herself so that she was sitting upright and looked around.

I had a Reese's peanut butter cup earlier. TPBM Thinks @Ancient Elantrian is a chicken IRL....

Her eyelashes fluttered weakly and there was a large bruise forming on her neck.

Auryn elbowed the man in the nose, breaking it, but the man hardly flinched. His grip got tighter and tighter. She felt her face growing hot, her vision swimming. Auryn struggled, kicking him and pummeling him with her fists, but to no avail. She tried to yell, but her air was almost gone. She blacked out. "Maybe... do you know what classes she took? Who her teachers were?"

Auryn watched a man stumble drunkenly towards her. he slid to the ground beside her and tried to draw her sword. "Storm off!" She said to him angrily. The drunkard didn't respond. He leaned forward and tried to grab her around the neck. "Ok... then what? We just ask around? That could take days!"

She walked over to the entrance and sat down outside of it, back to the door.

"I mean... I never even knew her... do you know her parent's first name or last name?" Auryn walked back toward the exit to the cavern, munching on her stolen roll.

Auryn dozed for several hours in the tree. when she awoke, she clambered down and stole back into the town. Auryn swiped a roll from a merchant, ducked into an alley, and started running.

"Don't understand..."

"Most people... they get alarmed when I say that. try to send me to the ardents..."

Auryn settled herself in the tree and took a nap.

Auryn walked to the edge of the town, head down, and walked out the gates. She found a tree a little ways off, out of sight, and climbed into it.

Ash took another bite of her soup, staring at the table.

"I want to go to that cliff... go over it." Ash deadpanned.

"And you're probably worse for it." She said shortly.

"Yes, thank you for saving me..." Rex walked out the door. Auryn trotted through the alley, stopping and handing a small parcel to a man in the corner.

"Change is a bad thing. It... hurts." Ash winced, setting her spoon down.

Auryn continued on her way. When she came to the end of the cavern, she sensed the door, opened it, and emerged in an alley close to the University.

Rex blushed. "Shall we?" She motioned toward the door.
