Just-A-Stick

"Pardon?" Rex was very confused as she scrambled to her feet.

"Is... something wrong, Sir?" Rex looked down at her hand, puzzled.

Rex's eyelashes fluttered and slowly opened. "Hello! My name's Rex." She looked around, "it appears I've fallen, would you be so kind?" She offered the man her hand.

Ash looked into his eyes, seeming to gather strength from him. She sat up slowly, raking a hand through her messy hair. "I'll try to believe it..."

Rex sat on the rock, brushing her hands off on the moss by her feet. He doesn't want me... He never did. Shut it out... don't remember.... Rex focused on pushing the memories of the day to the very darkest corner of her mind, not looking at all the clutter back there. She vision swam and she fainted.

"but.... i don't feel safe!" Ash whispered, her voice shaking.

"I.... ok." Rex stood up and walked away, dragging the corpse behind her. she walked into the woods, buried the corpse, and sat on a rock. @Lightweaver2

Ash shook, but finally opened her eyes, there was lucidity in her eyes. "A... a dream?"

Rex took her hand off his shoulder, sitting still, staring at the ground.

Ash was thrashing wildly, still asleep.

"....If that's what you want...." Rex said, a small waver in her voice. she looked away.

"Well, you won't be able to convince me otherwise."

"I can handle the pain. I have for years now. you're worth it!"

"Force you not to hurt yourself? Yes! And I will to! That isn't your decision, I'm sorry."

"It's not your decision! I'm my own person!" I have been... or... I was? "No one will take that from me ever again..." Rex added to herself.

Rex swore at him softly, covering her face. "I'll damn well take that chance, Sir."

"You can't be serious! Cinder? Maybe we're thinking of different people. I thought you were talking about miss 'you two are bad for each other, so i'ma build a wall' that Cinder?" Rex did an exaggerated high-pitched whiny voice when mimicking Cinder.

"I believe you are."

Ash shut her eyes, falling asleep without her usual trouble. She dreamed she was falling... falling into a deep, dark pit. She landed at the bottom, bones crunching on impact. Ash screamed as the sudden pain flooded through her body.

"well, some thing are worth the pain."

Ash nodded, to tired to object. She laid down, back to the wall. @Part Of The Narrative

"I... I've been hurt before. It won't be anything new." She winced as a headache started.

"Storm it! You're a human! Of course you're gonna fail! I'm going to damn well, go on needing you!"

"Why can't I need you?! WHY?!" Rex sobbed
