Just-A-Stick

"Such as?"

She carved the bow of the ship, making a tiny figurehead in the shape of a dragon blowing fire.

"That's a good question. Why wouldn't you?" He whispered, half smiling as he continued to rub her back.

Ashton nodded at him, giving him a grim sort of smile. She carved a small cannon port.

She carves the sails, the mast, and the rigging, all so detailed it could have been three times the size.

"For caring about someone like me." He rubbed her back gently with one hand.

She nodded at him, then turned back to her work. She was carving a tiny, intricate boat from the block of wood.

Jinx clung to her, hiding her face in Ash's chest.

She glanced at the book, pulling out a throwing knife and a small stick and beginning to whittle.

He set down his coffee, hugging her to him. "Thank you." He whispered into her hair.

@Wierdo Ashton sat next to him, hardly making a sound with her movements.

"No, I just had a lot on my mind..." He sighed, rubbing his forehead with one hand.

"Had better."

"How'd you sleep?"

He gave her a tired smile and sipped a mug of coffee.

"I'm not either."

Jinx shook her head, clapping her hands over her ears.

"Neither do you."

He cracked a grin, dimple appearing. "You're beautiful always."

He raked a hand through his tousled hair, messing it up further. "Just... tired." He said, voice groggy.

Ashton walked over to where a person was sitting reading, and sat down beside them, grey cloak rippling.
