Rex flinched at the woman's words but said nothing.

She was stiff and unrelaxed, muscles tight and unrelenting. She appeared fine.

Fine. She continued, working to calm herself from the outside in, carefully hiding her emotions so that she appeared calm. Rex's breathing returned to normal.

She shook her head. "N-no."

"N-no! I'm n-not-" She tried to push him away, feeling faint from lack of air.

Rex shook her head. "Go- be with- y-your f-family-" She gasped, body shaking.

Rex clamped her eyes shut. She was hyperventilating- She couldn't breathe- The tears started and she was unable to stop them. STUPID WEAK FOOL! Her mind screamed at her.

Rex's breath hitched in her lungs. She couldn't do this. She had to LEAVE- Unable to stop herself, she ran away behind a near building, crouching against a wall and pressing her back to the stone.

Oh! I tripped trying to run away from conflict and tripped, slamming my face on the concrete. I think I broke my nose...

Rex flinched violently, stumbling over her own feet. RUN! A voice in her head thundered. She whirled around, preparing to bolt.

Rex swallowed her fear. Act braver than you are. Be strong enough that they can't hurt you. "My name is Araxie Vesper." She left Daniel's side and held out her hand to the woman. "It's nice to meet you."
