  1. Rezyn jumped, yelping as Lord Elan came out of nowhere. "Nothing, Lord, you?" she stammered. Stupid, idiot girl. "I was just...looking for...I dropped...my um, tea." She looked around. "I uh, guess I've lost it."
  2. "Idk what you're talking about! I'm not the same kind of homeschooled as you!!!" ~ @Just-A-Stick
  3. Rezyn cursed, ducking around a building. Lord Elan walked past. He'd seen her, hadn't he? She peeked around the edge of the building, wincing as the wind ruffled through her hair, louder than she'd have liked.
  4. Rezyn hurried into the street. She ducked into an old building, slipped into an empty room and locked the door, hurriedly changing out of her noblewoman dress and into comfortable street clothes. On second thought, she wouldn't go back to her keep yet. She had so many questions...a walk would clear her head. Keep looking down. I don't want more danger right now. She balled up the dress and stuffed it into her satchel, then left it behind the door. She would come get it later. Maybe. Already feeling better, she adopted the tense gait of a street urchin and started away. She needed to get out of this area. She couldn't let the nobles see Lady Rezyn Marn skulking about like a thief.
  5. Rezyn sighed, eyeing the assassin. Would he try anything sneaky now that Kerst was gone? She rose. "I'm leaving. Someone more experienced can deal with him." She waved in the assassin's general direction. "I guess I'll see you all next week." If we survive that long, seeing as Londar's most intelligent and dangerous elites are a bunch of damn idiots. And she left, eager to get back to her father's keep. She tucked away her knife as she went. Should she tell him about this little incident? It was leverage, was it not? She finally knew something he didn't. He's bound to find out sooner or later. Might as well get something out of it by being the one to tell him.
  6. nope, in the defender's city/wherever they are idk lol
  7. Rezyn gritted her teeth. "What usually happens at these meetings, anyway?" She demanded, looking around. "I mean, this can't be normal."
  8. Rysen climbed to her feet. She turned to glare at Kerst, the moment of appreciation gone. "What are you not telling us? Do you know anything about this man--" She was too late. He was gone.
  9. Kerst nodded at Rezyn, an acknowledgement of respect. Rezyn, still weak, felt a glow of pride at the look. "We have met your requirements." Kerst proclaimed. "You will leave. I am not fond of the idea of a man who tried to murder us joining our sect."
  10. Rezyn breathed deeply, calling the mist. it coalesced into a glimmering, slim, double edged mistsword. Inside the man's chest. It poked out through the front, the blade steaming wisps of smoke that curled off the edge. Rezyn staggered with the effort, letting herself slide to the floor. She felt shaky, but so exhilarated.
  11. Kerst narrowed his eyes. He caught Rezyn's eye, and they each took a step forward, closing off the assassin while he was talking to Roy. Rezyn had only done what she was about to try once successfully. You couldn't do it on living things. But demons didn't live...right?
  12. Rezyn stepped forward. "Well?" she demanded. "Will you fight us all, assassin?" She was getting tired of the manipulation. Why not just kill them all and be done with it? The man was obviously holding back. "You could have murdered us five minutes ago, and you stand there talking about deals and smirking like a bloody demon."
  13. Kerst stumbles. I'm not what I used to be, but I deserve death if I can't last a minute. He ducks back as the sword grazes his knee, and makes a swipe. Just draw it out... Meanwhile, Rezyn looked on, calculating. The man was getting attack on two fronts, like he was having two completely different battles at the same time. And...he was winning, she realized.
  14. Kerst casually blocked, moving lightly to the side. He feinted, lunging for the man's sword arm, but pulled back at the last second.
  15. Kerst laughed darkly. "None of you in this room know half of the truth. Especially not you, servant." He advanced on the assassin.
  16. "I will accept your offer." Kerst tilted his head. "Be forewarned. I do not have 'party tricks.'" He held his sword in front of him, in a ready stance. "I duel on skill alone."
  17. Rezyn paused. Did he say...demons? Across the room, Kerst stepped into the light again. "What do you want? You will not harm innocents."
  18. Kerst was silent. Rezyn nudged Silas with her foot, nodding at him. They could take him, she was sure. The assassin's words gave her pause. His tone was off. He didn't say the words like a normal person might.
  19. Kerst raised an eyebrow. "We are more skilled than you seem to realize, assassin." He gestured around the room. "You are outnumbered. What makes you think I will take this offer?"
  20. Kerst looked around at all the ready nobles. He gritted his teeth, then backed toward the shadows at the corners of the room. He would need to let this play out. He hated fighting someone before observing their combat style.
